New Year’s Resolutions 2018

Long time no see! Even my laptop was shocked when I switched it on for the first time in 3 months yesterday evening. Who knew having a baby consumed so much time and energy? Rather than start a new diet in the New Year, I’m making an effort to get back into blogging, because I do enough exercise rocking my baby to sleep, and I’m completely out of touch with the movie world, and that makes me sad. Like I have no idea what movies are even contenders for the Oscars this year, so you know I haven’t even started to watch them!

I’m breaking myself in easily though, and I’m aiming to post once a week to begin with as a bare minimum. My little one, Daisy, has just started sleeping in her cot in her own room which frees up a bit of me time late at night, and so that’s when I get to do my blogging. Actually watching movies or reading books is taking more time than it ever used to, but I’m excited to get back into it!

Last year in 2017 I just missed out on my goals so I’m making it a little easier for myself in 2018 and having just 3 resolutions:

1 – Get back into blogging, and stay active (at least once a week) for the entire year
2 – Watch 52 new movies
3 – Read 6 new books

I’m feeling positive! Mainly because I feel like I’m going to have my identity back, I’ve been known in my circle of family and friends as the ‘movie guru’ and so since October last year I’ve felt like a fraud! I still have so many of last year’s releases to catch up on but I’ll make it eventually.

So that’s it from me for now, tomorrow night I’m looking forward to catching up on all the blogs I follow, and finding out what’s what in the movie world!

EDIT: My blog is still snowing and Wonder Woman is my most recent banner. FML. I’ll sort those later!

  1. Daisy is an adorable name. Fantastic!

Welcome back, Allie. I think your goals sounds reasonable, and I wish you the best. And with 52 slots, figure you can boil it down to just the good stuff.

  2. Ha ha ha…as I read “Who knew having a baby consumed so much time and energy?” I had to chuckle…I said the same when I had my little one. And…people used to look at me confused when I said “I’m busy watching (Movie whatever)”…I had to explain that movie watching happened over the course of a few nights (if not more) in 15 minute intervals…15 minutes one day, 15 minutes another maybe the next 15 minutes two weeks later…but I’m sure you know what I’m on about. Just take it as it comes…and it will all come together…
Enjoy your little girl. They are soooo precious and grow so quickly.

    1. That’s just absolutely so true! I always knew it would be hard work but it sort of took me by complete surprise. I think everyone assumes I sit on the sofa all day watching daytime TV…when in reality I barely sit down!
Thanks so much for your kind words πŸ™‚

      1. Oh trust me…I know…if you get 5 minutes on the sofa you’re a lucky lady… πŸ˜‰
But it is the most precious experience isn’t it? As overwhelming as it sometimes might feel. I’d never trade it for anything…tired and all.

  3. Oh, Daisy! Is it after Daisy Ridley? I was thinking about you few times in the last few months, hoping everything was going OK, so glad it did!

  4. Welcome back Allie! It’s so nice to see you update again. Daisy is an adorable name! Have you tried audio books? I started them last year and they’re a lot of fun. They might be a great way to listen to a book when you’re busy with Daisy. All the best in 2018!

  5. Congrats on Daisy, Allie! Such a nice name!

I’ve also been way too absent on my blog lately. I missed it so much! Going to try and commit to blogging at least once or twice per week this year.

    Great resolutions!
