Directors: Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein
Main Cast: Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Tom Hopper, Rory Scovel, Adrian Martinez, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Philipps, Lauren Hutton & Sasheer Zamata
Genre: Comedy
Plot: Renee struggles with her self-esteem, and after hitting her head in a Soul Cycle accident she awakes thinking she’s absolutely stunning. Her new found confidence changes her life for the better.
My Thoughts: You know, I was expecting this movie to be kind of terrible, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Maybe it’s because I had zero expectations but I could think of many worse movies to sit through! I don’t pay a lot of attention to Amy Schumer (although I know she gets a bad rap) so I have to take this movie at face value.
It’s not flawless of course but there’s definitely a good message at the heart of it all. Confidence is a much better thing to have than flawless beauty. It’s nothing to go crazy over and it doesn’t bring anything new to the table, but it’s a good movie to stick on with your girlfriends on a Saturday night!
Best Bit: Has to be Amy Schumer’s character entering the bikini contest, hands down the best and funniest scene in the whole movie.
Worst Bit: Her character being an absolute bar stool to her friends once she thinks she’s beautiful. Kind of ruins the message a bit I think.
Fun Trivia: This movie reunites Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps, real-life best friends, who also worked on Dawson’s Creek together.
My Rating: 3 Soul Cycle spin bikes out of 5!
We totally had the same experience and thoughts on this one! I went to see it last night and wasn’t convinced before seeing it, so went in with low expectations as well and enjoyed it, agree about the worst part the way she went on with her friends was not nice at all. But I did like the way she made it up to them in the end.
Also Michelle Williams voice cracked me up each time she spoke.

I’m so glad that others feel the same way! I didn’t read any reviews before seeing it and kind of expected everyone would hate it because of Amy Schumer.
You’re so spot on about Michelle Williams – I don’t know how she did it!

I didn’t read any reviews before either, but have since seen a few things and they really have criticised her for this.

I might give this a shot if it’s on TV. Most of the reviews I’ve read of it say it’s pretty okay too.

It’s never going to be up there with the best of 2018 but there are definitely much worse ways to spend an hour and a half!
