Here on the little island of the UK exists a TV channel by the name of Comedy Central. It only ever seems to air 2 different shows, Friends and Impractical Jokers. As someone on maternity leave till July who refuses to watch kids shows all day, you can imagine that I’ve been watching a lot of Impractical Jokers! I love it though, it has the perfect amount of cringe to be hilarious, and it’s the kind of show you don’t need to give your full attention to.
In their very own words, Impractical Jokers is a programme which contains scenes of graphic stupidity among four lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other. Essentially, the four guys (Sal, Q, Murr and Joe) dare each other to do stupid things, or to say stupid things in different scenarios. If you refuse, you lose, and whoever has the most losses at the end of the show has to complete a punishment.
These punishments are sometimes small as simple. such as having to pick up and carry dog poo. Sometimes they’re huge, like getting married to someone’s sister, and sometimes they’re just plain outrageous, like getting mystery tattoos. They’re always funny though, so I thought I would pay tribute to my current favourite show by doing a Top 5 List of my favourite ones. Let the countdown begin…
#5 Sal Playing Bingo
In a huge room full of serious bingo players, Sal was forced to get up and shout ‘Bingo’ every time one of the other guys told him too. What started out as slightly cringy took a turn for the worst when the crowd turned nasty!
#4 Imagine Dragons Concert
Sal and Joe were made to get on stage as the opening act for Imagine Dragons. Dressed not dissimilar to the guys from LMFAO, their songs included ‘Shut Your Face Grandma’ and ended with Sal attempting to crowd surf. I wish I was there!
#3 Sal’s Haunted House Visit
As a huge wuss myself, I totally felt Sal’s pain when he was forced to walk through a haunted house. Featuring horrors such as a creepy girl playing the piano, an old woman chanting in a rocking chair and a moving body bag, I would have noped the hell out of there!
#2 Murr at the Racetrack
Never have I cringed so hard as when Murr was given the punishment of selling concessions at the racetrack, but not being allowed to give any change. It was bad enough to see him just walk away with the change, but when a woman and her husband started to chase Murr down, I actually wanted the ground to swallow me up.
#1 Who’s Phone is Ringing?
Without a doubt, the best punishment was when Sal was made to sit in the audience of a small book reading session, having been told that he’s not allowed to answer his phone when it rings, or turn it off. Every few minutes the guys ring his phone and the ringtone loudly plays ‘Who’s phone is ringing? Mine! Mine!”. The crowd turn nasty, and right at the end Sal takes his turn on stage to present his own book, ‘Silence is Golden’.
I’ve just now realised that nearly all of these contain Sal…is he subconsciously my favourite joker or does he just lose a lot? Either way – if you watch the show too I’d love to know what your favourite punishment has been!
I love this show! It is so damn awkward and so so funny. I hadn’t seen some of these punishments before, including your number one. Poor Sal. “I…. want to be part of this.” Bahahhaha! Great list!

I can’t take shows with any amount of embarrassment.

I love the US version but there’s a UK one too, and that’s far too cringy for me!

Oh God this is hard to watch! lol. I can’t judge though, I watched an entire season of Jersey Shore on maternity leave.

Absolutely! Sometimes I can’t even look because it’s so cringy, but it’s that kind of show that I don’t mind watching for hours.
