We’re still in January and I’m already at risk of falling behind on my resolutions! My toddler has decided this week that sleep isn’t really for her so I’ve been exhausted, meaning no cinema trips and not being able to stay awake past 8pm. I will not give up on keeping this little blog active however so I’m jumping in at the last minute with my picks for Wanderer’s Thursday Movie Picks, and fingers crossed I’ll be more active around here very soon.
This week’s theme is 2018 Movies, and as I’ve already posted my Best and Worst lists for the year, I thought I would pick 3 movies from the year that I haven’t seen yet – but want to see asap!
Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse (2018)
Totally my bad. I had more than enough opportunities to go and see this but in the back of my mind, I wondered how good it would be. Turns out it’s one of the best-rated movies of the entire year!
Wildlife (2018)
This one’s at least not my fault. No cinema near me was showing this so I’ve been patiently waiting for a home release. It has an interesting premise and it’s directed by Paul Dano, so that alone is reason enough to check it out!
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
Released just before I started going to the cinema regularly, but I really regretted not making a bigger effort to see it. I love a good rom-com!
Hip hip hooray for “Wildlife”! I adore that film and want more people to see it. I thought Crazy Rich Asians was a really nice surprise. I liked “Spider-Verse” but definitely not as much as most seem too. Anxious to read your thoughts on all three.

I have to say I worry that Spider-Verse isn’t going to live up to the hype surrounding it, but you never know!

It definitely didn’t for me, but a lot of people really love it.

Crazy Rich Asians was fun and it’s not something that’s going to take a lot out of you if you have to stop and start around the little one 🙂

That’s a very good point! Plus she needs to be educated in good movies at some point ;D

The only one I’ve seen so far is Crazy Rich Asians. It’s a fun one, hope you get to see it soon. I plan on seeing the others over the next few weeks.
Can’t say that I envy that new parent life. Those are tough times, but worth it in the end. Hang in there!

Thanks Dell! It just seems to come in waves at the moment, one good week, one bad week.

Wildlife is also on my to-watch list, hopefully I get to watch it this year. Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse was an interesting take with the superhero, and one I’m keen on revisiting when it comes out on DVD.

Crazy Rich Asians is the only I’ve seen and it was nice. I wanted to see Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse but they only showed it on Christmas and Boxing day and I was busy 😦

It’s weirdly still showing at my local but they have one showing a day in the middle of the day when I’m at work 😦

great choice! Personally, I made the extra effort to go and see spider-man (even at the expense of work) because I heard it was so great… and it was.
Still haven’t seen the other two, but they are on my lists
Great job as always Allie!

I’m so regretting it now! It shouldn’t be much longer for a home release now 🙂

I actually just watched Crazy Rich Asians and enjoyed it even if I thought its all well and good having an asian cast but if you mostly only depict the rich what does it actually acheive? I might try and read more about it.

I made a booboo and wrote about this week’s theme last week…..oops. So I will give my 2018 pics this week. I have not seen these 3 either and would like to see Crazy Rich Asians but not sure about the others. I heard good things about Spider-Man but still unsure

Oh I noticed! We’ve all done it! You’ve got me thinking of ideas for the theme you wrote about though 🙂

Hey! Having seen two of the three (Wildlife would never come to such a dumpy town as mine), I can wholeheartedly get behind Spider-Verse. It’s soooooooo good. As for Crazy Rich Asians? I just watched that last night with my wife. Sweet film…but no big deal.
I mean, it didn’t even have any Spider-Men in it. How good could it be?

I think the lesson here is that the more Spider-Men you have = The better your movie is!
