Directors: Abby Kohn & Marc Silverstein
Main Cast: Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Tom Hopper, Rory Scovel, Adrian Martinez, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Philipps, Lauren Hutton & Sasheer Zamata
Genre: Comedy
Plot: Renee struggles with her self-esteem, and after hitting her head in a Soul Cycle accident she awakes thinking she’s absolutely stunning. Her new found confidence changes her life for the better.
My Thoughts: You know, I was expecting this movie to be kind of terrible, but I actually quite enjoyed it. Maybe it’s because I had zero expectations but I could think of many worse movies to sit through! I don’t pay a lot of attention to Amy Schumer (although I know she gets a bad rap) so I have to take this movie at face value.
It’s not flawless of course but there’s definitely a good message at the heart of it all. Confidence is a much better thing to have than flawless beauty. It’s nothing to go crazy over and it doesn’t bring anything new to the table, but it’s a good movie to stick on with your girlfriends on a Saturday night!
Best Bit: Has to be Amy Schumer’s character entering the bikini contest, hands down the best and funniest scene in the whole movie.
Worst Bit: Her character being an absolute bar stool to her friends once she thinks she’s beautiful. Kind of ruins the message a bit I think.
Fun Trivia: This movie reunites Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps, real-life best friends, who also worked on Dawson’s Creek together.
My Rating: 3 Soul Cycle spin bikes out of 5!
